She has worked in schools, libraries and churches as an art teacher, public speaker and writing instructor. Sylvia has illustrated children’s books, and written and published fiction and non-fiction books. Her passion is creating from her imagination — whether a story comes to mind or an illustration, she believes “the joy is in the process.”

It took me ten years to write my first novel. Initially, when the inspiration came, the writing was easy and exciting. But then, when the doubts and fears crept in, procrastination paralyzed me. My imagination turned from the dream of becoming a published author, to being terrified of being criticized and judged by my readers. I didn’t have the support I needed at the time, so I put the manuscript in a drawer and left it there…for about eight years.
When I finally decided to let someone coach me, I took off like a rocket, finished my first novel, Reviving Joy, and published it in six months!
Sometimes, what we need is a combination of personal support, practical resources and the commitment to follow through. It’s the perfect recipe for success!
